2008 Schedule
Yellowstone Day Rides
We offer exclusive day rides for a minimum of four guests and maximum of eight guests. Single and couples will be mixed groups of similar riders and interests. Private rides for groups of six or more can be arranged. The locations for these day rides will be selected based on your interests, experience level and trail conditions. Rides are based primarily in the Northern half of Yellowstone. 
All rides are led by the owner, Mike Thompson, to provide you the best experience for your day in Yellowstone’s Backcountry.

Our small groups and diverse riding areas illustrate the difference between a day sitting on a horse with 20 other people, being led down a well worn path for 3-4 hours; or a great day searching and exploring Yellowstone, off the beaten trail with us. Because of our excellent history of "low impact" horseback travel with Yellowstone’s Backcountry Management, we are frequently given permission to travel into seldom seen, off trail areas of Yellowstone’s Backcountry. The day rides have become a very popular way to experience backcountry horseback riding; as the season draws closer, we will revise the day ride schedule to include additional available days. Join us in Yellowstone’s Backcountry!
Some locations will be:
- Rescue Creek - June 3 & 6 (An excellent early season ride for bighorn sheep, bear, elk and wildflowers!)
- Hayden Valley - June 11, 19 & 25 (Great family ride! Remote thermals, buffalo, bear and wolves all inhabit this area.)
- Swan Lake - June 14 (Great family ride! Majestic views of Electric Peak. Wolves, grizzly bear, elk and buffalo all inhabit this area.)
- Lamar Valley - June 17 & 27 (Remote ride for wildlife including: wolves, elk, bear and buffalo.)
- Specimen Ridge - June 22 & 29 (Challenging ride for great wildlife and huge vistas of Yellowstone.)
- Pebble Creek – June 24 (High mountain meadows, surrounded by cliff-faced mountains, home to mountain goats and moose. Very scenic!)
- Blacktail Plateau- Mid-August and September (Bear Management Area, wolves, buffalo and elk)
The above locations and the addition of the Blacktail Plateau will all be available for additional day rides mid-August through September. Fall is a great time for a day ride in Yellowstone as the wildlife activity increases, buffalo and elk ruts begin and bears begin feeding more actively preparing for hibernation, no bugs and very few people in the backcountry. Please contact us with your vacation dates and we will get you on a great day ride!
Rides begin at 9:00 AM (trail side lunch included); return time approximately 4:00 PM. Other dates may be available on request, please give us a call or email. Locations are subject to change; due to trail conditions and Park openings.
Rates: $240.00 per person
50% nonrefundable deposit confirms reservation
Payment and Deposit Information
We accept all major credit cards and checks.
Reservations are confirmed upon receipt of deposit.
Please remember that deposits are nonrefundable, as we work on a very limited season.
Final payment for pack trips is due two weeks prior to trip. Final payment for day trips is due on day of ride.
